Allow me to introduce myself.
I’m Aldwin Aspillera, a food photographer based in the Philippines. Food and photography: two of my passions, and most people would argue, my obsessions. My life with food started early. Growing up in the kitchen of my parents’ restaurant and my aunt’s bakery, I was exposed to the idiosyncrasies of the culinary world. Life in and around food was second nature to me.
When college came around, I discovered another form of creative release in the photography labs of De La Salle University. My love for photography simmered in the coldness of the darkroom and finally boiled over when I started shooting professionally. My work has graced the pages and covers of numerous magazines and print ads in Manila. Doing works as diverse as fashion, portraits, jewelry, interiors, and of course food.
As time progressed, I rekindled my love for the kitchen when I took a Baking and Pastry course in The Center for Asian Culinary Studies. This culinary training proved to be very valuable during shoots. It helped me understand the creative process in a chef’s mind and how I could translate that into a photograph. These days, I shoot for numerous hotels, restaurants, and food magazines in Manila. I’m available for editorial, commercial, and even personal projects. Say hello through my contact page.
